The land was first cleared and the natural bog enhanced in 1998, when the first vines were planted. About three years later the first cranberries started to appear. The bog covers 2 acres and may produce over 3,000 lbs of berries a year. Presently we have a pick- your-own operation and market berries to both wholesalers and retailers.
Berries are sold locally in various Maine outlets and bakeries. Rising Tide Natural Foods in Kittery, Smedbergs Crystal Spring Farm in Oxford, Pietree Orchards in Sweden, Good Life Market in Raymond, Forage Market in Lewiston, Nezinscott Farms in Turner, Local Grocer in North Conway, N.H. and Axis Organic Market in Auburn, Me. are several markets that carry Woodward Cranberry Farm cranberries. Debra’s Natural Gourmet in Concord, MA and Good Health, Inc in Hanover, MA also carry organic cranberries grown by Woodward Cranberry Farm.
Each season’s opening of the weekend pick-your-own operation is advertized in local papers such as the Advertiser Democrat, Norway; the Sun Journal, Conway, NH; and the Bethel Citizen, Bethel as well as on this site’s home page.
